The Dowling Group is proud to have partnered with vineyard vines to present the 65th Annual Town of Greenwich Golf Tournament at the Griff

The 65th Annual Greenwich Men's Town Golf Tournament saw a new star this year as George Tischler became the 2009 champion. After a sudden death playoff that went two holes George came out on top, defeating David Pastore with his final 15 foot birdie putt. It was a well deserved win for George who showed he had all around ability on the course with a stand out short game all weekend.

This year's tournament drew 145 Greenwich golfers and over 100 spectators to the Robert Trent Jones designed Griffith E. Harris Golf Course- the largest field in the history of the event. Joe Felder and his crew once again executed the tournament flawlesslyon what was agorgeous New England July weekend. The course was in perfect shape and the greens ran fast thanks to Dave D'Andrea and his crew.

This year had a new addition as vineyard vines® and the Dowling Group partnered to co-sponsor the golf tournament. Every golfer was given a beautiful Maui blue vineyard vines golf polo from their new golf line. Players also received a bag towel to commemorate the event - and of course to keep their clubs clean so they could make all those miraculous shots. It was a special sight to see the band of blue on all our local golfers when they showed up to play in their new shirts on Sunday.

Bill Tomaselli created his own piece of history by taking home the first ever Triple Crown of the Greenwich Town Tournament this year. Having won the Townwide and Senior divisions in years past, he carded a win in the Super Senior division for 2009, becoming the first player in the history of the tournament to do so. This accomplishment is no small feat and will serve as inspiration to the younger generations of local players that golf is a lifelong pursuit.

The 65th anniversary of the town tournament saw new records being set and some historical firsts. The success of the tournament always rests in the hands of the participants so we hope to see everyone again next year and hopefully some new faces. It is an event that is unique to Greenwich and is one of the many reasons that makes the town special. The Dowling Group and vineyard vines were delighted to have been a part of this year's event and look forward to being a part of the future success of this storied tournament.
