Tax Intern (Paid) – Fall 2026 Extension Season

Location: Riverside, CT (In-Office)
Timing: June/July start (flexible) through October 15, 2026
Availability: Full-time, Monday–Friday (August–October required)

Position Overview

The Dowling Group is seeking a Tax Intern to join our team during the 2025 tax extension season. This role offers a hands-on opportunity for a candidate with prior tax experience to further develop their technical skills within a collaborative, fast-paced, and detail-oriented environment. The intern will work closely with our tax professionals, gaining meaningful exposure to the preparation, organization, and delivery of client tax returns, as well as the internal processes that support efficient workflow management and client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare income tax returns and supporting workpapers
• Organize, scan, and maintain client tax documentation
• Track receipt of client information and maintain internal status reports
• Assist in the finalization and delivery of tax returns, including assembly and mailing
• Communicate with clients regarding completed returns and outstanding items
• Support internal workflow and document management systems
• Provide general administrative support to the tax team as needed

Qualifications

• Prior tax experience or familiarity with tax preparation workflows preferred
• Working knowledge of common tax documents and filing requirements
• Experience with CCH, Adobe, and Microsoft Outlook strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Professional communication skills and a high level of accountability

Requirements

• Availability Monday–Friday, with full availability August through October (required)
• Ability to work in-office in Riverside, CT
• Reliable transportation

Compensation & Opportunity

• Paid internship; compensation commensurate with experience
• Opportunity for a full-time position following the internship for the right candidate
